He is currently researching how virtual reality affects human memory, motor adaptation, and social behavior. Psychologist Skip Rizzo conducts research on the design, development and evaluation of virtual reality (VR) systems targeting the areas of clinical assessment, treatment rehabilitation and resilience. This work spans the domains of psychological, cognitive and motor functioning in both healthy and clinical populations. Rizzo, whose work using virtual reality-based exposure therapy to treat PTSD received the American Psychological Association’s 2010 Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Treatment of Trauma, is the associate director for medical virtual reality at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies. He also holds research professor appointments with the USC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and at the USC Davis School of Gerontology. Rizzo is working with a team that is creating artificially intelligent virtual patients that clinicians can use to practice skills required for challenging clinical interviews and diagnostic assessments. His cognitive work has addressed the use of VR applications to test and train attention, memory, visuospatial abilities and executive function. In the motor domain, he has developed VR game systems to address physical rehabilitation post stroke and traumatic brain injury and for prosthetic use training. He is currently designing VR scenarios to address social and vocational interaction in persons with autistic spectrum disorder. Rizzo is currently examining the use of VR applications for training emotional coping skills with the aim of preparing service members for the stresses of combat. He is senior editor of the MIT Press journal, Presence: Teleoperators and Virtual Environments. The firm specializes in the areas of Internet, e-commerce, software and other intellectual property protection, infringement, and licensing. Mr. Russo originated some of the early thinking on IP protection of the “look and feel” of computer software and he has been involved in a number of software cases. His 1985 article, Copyright in the “Look and Feel” of Computer Software published in The Computer Lawyer pioneers the subject over three decades ago. Dr. Jurgen Schulze is an Associate Research Scientist at UCSD's Qualcomm Institute, and an Associate Adjunct Professor in the computer science department, where he teaches computer graphics and 3D user interfaces. His research interests include scientific visualization in virtual environments, human-computer interaction, real-time volume rendering, and the use of mobile devices for 3D applications such as virtual reality. He holds an M.S. degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. from the University of Stuttgart in Germany. After his graduation he spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher in the Computer Science Department at Brown University.

Carrie Shaw, CEO and founder of Embodied Labs, Inc., is passionate about the intersection between education, art, science, and virtual reality. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Public Health, Carrie joined the Peace Corps as a Health Education volunteer and lived in the Dominican Republic where she taught reproductive health to youth and worked as a medical translator. During this time, she discovered that art as a teaching tool for health education can cross all cultural and language barriers. Carrie went on to pursue a Master’s of Science at the University of Illinois Chicago in Biomedical Visualization. In 2016, she founded her company Embodied Labs, with the goal of revolutionizing the way health care providers, caregivers, and patients learn about human health from the first-person perspective of vulnerable patient populations through virtual reality storytelling.

Nora founded Women in 3D Printing in 2014 to feature women leaders in the Additive Manufacturing sector through interviews and portraits.
