Military Planning Use of VR Headsets on Battlefield

(SputnikNews) The Pentagon’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is developing technology that could enable the remote control of US military missions by using tools like Oculus virtual reality headsets and Xbox controllers. The NGA wants to acquire real-world 3D views from any location in real time. The process previously required a sophisticated scanner mounted on a stationary tripod and took time to process.
“We can then take those images and then overlay them on top of the building, so that our model becomes now the actual building,” Defense One cited NGA researchers saying.
