(VentureBeat) Universities are classic breeding grounds for the tech industry’s breakthrough companies and innovations. Stanford University’s first official VR club the Rabbit Hole VR recently featured projects from the group’s VR/AR whiz kids building the next generation of immersive technologies. Those include:
–Immersive storytelling with ‘Snowbird,’ a novel approach to immersive storytelling in augmented reality.
–Mixed reality interfaces and keyboards in the “v.OS” project that aims to produce a virtual user interface by means of a typing keyboard in mixed reality.
–Lightwork is a light field display that projects 3D content without the need for special glasses or accessories – like a digital hologram.
–Interactive and immersive documentary in “Paint Down the Wall,” an interactive 360 degree documentary about the art on the Berlin Wall, Belfast peace walls, and US-Mexico border wall.
