CLI Ventures Discusses Investments in ‘Frontier Technologies’

(Forbes)  CLI Ventures, a boutique fund based in Palo Alto aims to lead the charge when it comes to investing in what they’ve coined “frontier technology,” the VR and AR that, according to DigiCapital’s 2016 report, will be a $120 billion industry by 2020. Ryan Wang, a partner at CLI and head of frontier technology, recently spoke to Forbes about what exciting investments they have made in frontier tech, and what comes next.
Wang explained that frontier technology is a specific type of technology that has great potential to have an impact in the future. Right now, frontier technology is normally referring to virtual reality, augmented reality, computer vision, artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics. Sometimes even space technology could be classified as frontier technology. In the future, what’s frontier technology now will become regular technology and there will be new frontiers.
