AMD’s Acquisition of Nitero A Step Toward Wireless Connectivity in VR and AR

(MarketRealist)  Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is focusing on the VR/AR market with its recent acquisition of Nitero. Nitero is a startup that specializes in developing chips to support wireless connectivity in VR (virtual reality) and AR (augmented reality) systems. One of the reasons that adoption of this technology has been slow is that existing devices are difficult or uncomfortable to use for many consumers. These devices feature a lot of cables, which can complicate the setup process. Wireless connectivity would be easier for adoption of VR devices from the wider-based consumer marketplace.
If Advanced Micro Devices is able to dominate the market for next-generation VR/AR systems, it could ease the pressure from competitors Intel (INTC) and Nvidia (NVDA).
